Eventually I'll have a large part of the site devoted to music, but for now here's some tidbits. Here are just a few interesting musicians to check out. In the rare cases where I actually attend a concert personally I will report on it as well.

Adam Lambert comes to Foxwoods and blows the doors, doorways, and attached hallways, off the MGM Grand. Orianthi and Allison Iraheta also performed splendidly. Read my short report about it and see the relatively mediocre photos of an awesome event.

Music to check out! [Will be updated frequently.]

+ Soundgarden-"Black Hole Sun..."

+ Boston 8-Bit-"Chiptunes"

+ Chip-Con-"Chip Music Concert Series"

+ MC Frontalot-"Nerdcore Hip Hop"

+ Simon Curtis-"His album 8-Bit Heart is an interesting and entertaining romp that likely will appeal to gamers and to non-gamers. It's good stuff!"

+ The Rogues "A well regarded Celtic band who rocked the CT Ren Faire, and deserves a look."

Adelitas Way -"Introduced to me by their airplay on WCCC, Adelitas Way offers up the rock epic "Invincible", as well as other tunes includingthe solid "Scream"."

Adam Lambert-"It was perhaps "Mad World" the cemented his stardom but ever since he has used his renowned voice aided by his instrumentalists and an all-star cast of song writers to put together quite a musical repertoire. "For Your Entertainment", "Whataya Want from Me", and "If I Had You" may be the released singles, but he has about ten songs that could easily be singles including the jump "Strut", the Gaga influenced "Fever", the moody and strong "Sleepwalker", "Broken Open" and it's the more upbeat slower "Aftermath." Added to that is the mysterious "Voodoo", excitement filled "Down the Rabbit Hole", and the underutilized and epic "Pick U Up". Just check him out."

Allison Iraheta -"The high energy Idol finalist in the midst of her first album release and touring with Adam Lambert. Live, she is a very powerful singer backed up by the blasting instrumentals. A good combination indeed. Her slower songs also showcase her voice's power just without a different energy. She sings in both Spanish and English. "Don't Waste the Pretty" may be getting a lot of attention but it is one of many great songs on her album."

A-HA -"Believe it or not "Take on Me" is not their only song, but of course will forever be remembered as the song."

Christopher Franke -"Prolific musician perhaps most known to the geek world for his soundtrack work on Babylon 5. Also did the soundtrack to the first Tenchi Muyo movie."

Hans Zimmer -"One of the leading movie soundtrack creators, he has a distinct style, but it doesn't get old. Did work on Pirates of the Caribbean, and his music for Backdraft was reborn for Iron Chef. And of course he is the musical genius behind the two latest Batman movies."

Bjorn Lynne - "Musical composer with a hand in a variety of works both in terms of soundtracks and general composition. Did a variety of music for the Worms series of games. "

Black Veil Brides -"I am no expert in the subgenres of music, just that they rock. Their debut album is solid rock. "We Stitch These Wounds is the title track and it makes sense given the epic flavor to it. "

B-52s-"Funky little shack...funky little shack!"

Bon Jovi -"They don't need my compliments their resume stands for itself. "It's My Life" may be one of the greatest songs ever recorded, and naturally there's other hits like "Livin' on a Prayer", "You Give Love a Bad Name" ,"Wanted Dead or Alive" and recent songs like "Have a Nice Day"

Bond -"The stuff this talented group of women can do with classical music intstruments is beyond amazing."

Britney Spears -"Don't even want to know what she's doing outside of the music studio, but "Circus" deserves a listen and that's not the only song of hers worthy of consideration.

Cascada -"It's dance music, it's fun, and it's jumpy and full of energy though "What Hurts the Most" may be the best piece so far."

Christina Aguilera -"Her latest single "Not Myself Tonight" hits on all cylinders."

Dio- "Holy Diver and more."

Disturbed -""Down With The Sickness" rocks, period, one of many tracks of theirs that is executes successfully."

Dream (Japan) -"This J-Pop group has had a lot of members, but "My Will" the first ending to Inuyasha is one of their most well known songs and in my opinion one of their best. WHY is also an awesome bit of music, and one of many on their multiple albums."

Yuki Kajiura -"Composer and producer who I came to be familiar with her work for .hack//sign and Madlax. Perhaps the best piece of either soundtrack is "Nowhere" from Madlax. She is also the producer for Kalafina which visited Anime Boston in 2009 as did she."

Eiffel65 -"The electronic dance group is most known for "Blue" but that's quite a song to have on their resume."

Emilie Autumn -"In the case of her music I'm going to let it stand for itself and suggest you sample it. A fascinating artist."

Enigma -"If "Gravity of Love" does not headline this group's output I'll eat my hat. That one song is beyond well done, and is a true example of what music can accomplish."

Enter Shikari -"Heavy rock to say the least, a lot of screaming intermixed with slamming instrumentals. Still they're screams fit in a way I have not heard before in the context of the melodies being laid down.

E.S. Posthumus -"Their orchestral pieces have a distinct style. Their music is recognized from the NFL on CBS as well as the TV series "Cold Case" but that is the tip of the proverbial berg of ice! "Arise" is another mood setting and excellent piece. "Kuvera" is as powerful as it is well paced and dramatic, and that is but a handful of their releases."

French Horn Rebellion -"Electronic music with a twist. I am also at a loss to describe them. "

Lady Gaga -"Gaga is indescribable"

Maxx -"Eurodance act which put together the epic Get-A-Way."

Guns N' Roses -"ROCK!"

Led Zeppelin-"More ROCK!"

Massive Attack -"I first heard Massive Attack when their eerie piece "Angel" was used to set the stage for a climactic scene on The West Wing"

Men Without Hats -"If you only listen to "Safety Dance" you're missing so much of this group's contribution."

Metallica -"What could I possibly say to describe them. It's Metallica, it's metal."

Orianthi -"She is an excellent guitarist and she can sing. Her debut album features not only the "According to You" top 40 hit that has gained her prominence, but also the powerful "Suffocated", "Bad News" and the purely instrumental "Highly Strung" amidst a solid track lineup top to bottom. She was also touring with Adam Lambert in recent months.

Ozzy Osbourne -"It's Ozzy, that's all."

Parliament -"Funk. That's what it is. "Give up the Funk!""

The Pretenders -"If you listen to nothing else by them, listen to the powerful "I'll Stand By You", a piece I first heard when it was slipped into an episode of Homicide: Life on the Street."

The Project A-Ko soundtrack - "Joey Carbone and Richie Zito composed an epic soundtrack and grabbed some great vocalists to augment the anime parody."

Rihanna-"I have no problem giving props to Rihanna. "So Hard", "Disturbia", and "Umbrella" especially are quality."

Shakira -"Shakira's reputation was pretty secure before her appearance at the World Cup. "Suerte" (the Spanish version of "Whenever, Wherever".) is wonderous, though "Ojos Asi" is beyond awesome, beyondsome even! In English it is strong, but in Spanish it shoots into the stratosphere.

James Horner -"Was responsible for the epic symphonic backdrops to Star Trek II and Star Trek III, and has plenty of other projects to his name."

The Octopus Project-"I don't even know how to describe what their music is, but its interesting and quirky."

Tiesto -"The dance and trance guru."

Transformers: The Movie soundtrack (animated version) -"The 80's epic animated movie was scored by Vince DiCola (who also did Rocky IV), added to that were vocals to the movie's two anthems by Stan Bush ("Dare" and "The Touch"), and a group of various vocalists with several of the other songs throughout the movie, including Weird Al."

Chumbawamba -"Tubthumping" may be the song that was the most recognized of the group though there is much more to them than just the Tubthumper album, though this is what I am familiar with. On that album alone were a variety of quality songs of the quirky variety, including my personal favorite "I Want More" and the excellent "The Good Ship Lifestyle."

Kenji Kawai -"Another music composer with a vast resume, including Ranma 1/2 and the Patlabor, both the TV series and the dramatic distinctive scores to the various motion pictures. He also recently composed the music behind the live action Death Note."

Rammstein -"A German medal band that brings it. Their album Sehnsucht was my first exposure to the group and it may help that I have no idea what they're saying but the sound is majorly amazing."

Corona - "The pop group behind the energetic "The Rhythm of the Night", "Baby Baby", and "I Don't Wanna be a Star" among others.

A Flock of Seagulls -"And I rannnnn I ran so far awayyyyyy du du du duuuuu..."

Black Eyed Peas -"Was not originally a fan of this group but got turned around by "I Gotta Feeling" and came to appreciate "Let's Get It Started" and many of their other works."

Blondie-"How can one not like Blondie?"

Blur -"WOOOO HOOOO!"

Rodrigo y Gabriela -"Listen to "Diablo Rojo", it's that simple."

Safri Duo -"Played-A-Live is excellent for this group that I am having trouble classifying. They have numerous energetic powerful pieces. Their music is so energetic it is popular in the world of gymnastics as it fits many of the athletes' tumbling."

The Veronicas -"It's electronic pop, and it's exciting. "Untouched" is the highlight."

Year 200X -"They recently released "We Are Error" metal covers of numerous pieces from NES games to great effect."

Ayumi Hamasaki - "J-Pop singer with a great deal of songs to her credit including the vibrant "Evolution" and "Unite" and plenty more of varying types and tempos."

The Rasmus -"Alternative Rock that with a unique undercurrent which I am unable to describe. I'm especially a fan of "Still Standing and "Back in the Picture" though "In the Shadows" is has plenty of game as well."
